Best Buy - no ATSC 3.0 STBs yet

I stopped in to a Best Buy in O P KS today and asked about ATSC 3.0
STBs, the salesperson said they had none and people hadn't been asking
for them (even though there are 2 ATSC 3.0 signals OTA here).

All we need is one, it seems like poor planning to not have an ATSC 3.0
STB ready for sale when the ATSC 3.0 signals began to be broadcast.

Not if you want to sell the more profitable NextGen TVs. At this point,
anyway. And especially during this inflationary period.

The market dynamics are different than they were for the then-looming
mandatory transition from analog to ATSC 1.0. Unless their existing TVs
will cease to function in the next few months, ordinary consumers won't
be likely to be looking for something new when they can't afford a dozen
eggs.

On the bright side, at least we won't have to (suffer?) through 5
generations of ATSC 3.0 receivers/STBs (as we did with ATSC 1.0) to get
one that can cope well with multipath. :)
